Feds Say Camp Lejeune Water Cases Can’t Go To Trial

The U.S. government asked a North Carolina federal court to prevent complaints over water contamination at Camp Lejeune from going to trial, arguing that the law allowing such lawsuits doesn’t permit juries to hear cases against the federal government.

The government told the court in a memo Monday that language in the Camp Lejeune Justice Act doesn’t “affirmatively and unambiguously” give the right to a jury trial as required by case law.
